I love the holidays and think that parties this time of year are the best. When it comes to the work setting, it could be the perfect time to break out of your corporate mode and express your festive side. This can be a tricky balance, however, because you are still actually at work, even in a fun environment. What seems like a good idea for a party might have a negative impact on your work come Monday. One year, a colleague of mine indulged in a few too many glasses of wine before talking to the head of our organization and never quite recovered. So remember to be on your best behavior!

HolidayWork2But also have fun – you don’t want to seem like a Grinch. : ) I’m making this top (on sale!) from Club Monaco my go-to for holiday gatherings this season. Silky and light, it has a nice sheen and pairs well with a suit jacket and pencil skirt. Bright red  lips  – a departure from my usual office pale pink  – add an appropriate level of flair.

The same shirt works well later for more casual gatherings  –  I’m always a fan of being able to wear my work wardrobe items for other occasions! For a friend’s holiday party, I’ve paired the top with my favorite black jeans and comfortable booties.

For non-work situations, un-tuck the shirt to show the details of the back.
