What to Pack: Vacation in Italy
I fell in love with Italy on my first trip there with my mother at age 14. I later studied abroad during college in a Northern Italian town called Modena (think birthplace of balsamic vinegar, parmigiano reggiano and Ferrarri) and moved there again after graduating to work as an English teacher. Living there was an incredible experience and I’ve been waiting years to return. I finally get to do so this week! We’ll be spending time with one of my best friends and her family in Calabria then traveling Modena before heading onto stay at this fabulous villa at Lake Como and finally this amazing place in Rome.
It’s the longest vacation I’ve taken in my adult life and I am incredibly excited. Tempting as it was, I’ve decided not to buy an entirely new wardrobe (better to do that once I’m there, right?!). I’m simply adding a few versatile, fun, items that will take me from the beach to lake to city. I usually don’t travel in dresses, but this one is so soft and comfortable I plan to wear it on the plane as well as probably every day once there! I’ve added a fun new bikini that is sure to give me some interesting tan lines and I’ll be taking a striped dress similar to this one to wear during the day. I’ll round things out with some good accessories and a classic Panama hat to keep the sun off my face. My biggest ticket item is a new bag for traveling, selected for me by Jenny (thank you, Jenny!!).
