This time of year I always feel like starting fresh – the seasons are changing, flowers are out, great fruit is in the market, graduations are happening and many people are beginning new jobs. I’ve been talking to a lot of women who are either about to enter the workforce or are transitioning positions, so I thought I’d share a few of my favorite items if you are looking for a wardrobe refresh.
The items here are ones I selected for a recent styling project. The client needed sensible work wardrobe pieces that could easily transition from the workday to after-hour engagements in San Francisco. By keeping the color palate and silhouettes simple, I was able to build outfits that could be transformed by the simple changing of shoes or addition of a necklace/scarf. What I love about these pieces is that they are virtually ageless and seasonless – in San Francisco at least. ; ) The scarf is one of my very favorite finds – the colors bring all sorts of looks together and tying it in front (as pictured above) is a younger look than wearing it the classic way from behind. The blazer is an off-white linen. At first I wanted to find a white blazer – they look so crisp! – but they tend not to have a very long life. This Club Monaco blazer should hold up well thanks to the less-delicate color and it still looks light and crisp for the warmer months.
A few other favorite items that I purchased which are not pictured here: This great black blazer from Club Monaco (on sale!) that can be paired with either this suiting tank from J Crew for work situations or this wonderful cami for a night out.
What are some of your favorite ways to update your wardrobe for this new season or new job?
