Lazy Bear Cold Brew Iced Coffee

IMG_9014Especially if you follow me on Instagram, you know that I’m a huge coffee fan. The stuff just makes my days better. I don’t usually drink it at night, but recently at the end of our dinner at Lazy Bear in San Francisco, I couldn’t resist ordering their signature cold-brew iced coffee. Served in a beaker, it’s creamy and topped with just the right amount of lightly sweetened fluffy whipped cream to feel decadent (and to give you a stunner of a milk mustache!).

Part of the Lazy Bear experience is talking with the chefs, and the barista happily talked over the recipe with me. I hope you give this version at home a try and enjoy it as much as I did!

Lazy Bear Cold Brew Iced Coffee
Serves 2

1 1/2 C. cold brew coffee (recipe below)

2 TBS half-and-half

2 TSP simple syrup (or fine sugar – this will simply take longer to dissolve)

1/4 C. whipping cream

1 TSP brown sugar

Pinch of sea salt

Combine coffee, half-and-half, simple syrup and pinch of salt in a mug. Mix well to combine. Divide coffee mixture between two ice-filled cups.

Pour the whipping cream and brown sugar into a mixing bowl and whip until soft peaks form. Dollop on top of the ice/coffee mixture…and enjoy! Note: best not to use a straw here – tastes much better without one. Trust me, I tried it both ways and it much decreased the experience. : )
