Silicon Valley Guide: Palo Alto
Coming to Silicon Valley, if you don’t know where to go, you might just end up experiencing strip malls and corporate office buildings. However, with a little planning, you can experience Silicon Valley as a magical place brimming with creativity, innovation – and the next start-up right around the corner! I recently spent the day with fellow blogger and Palo Alto native, Ally of Wear and Back Again, to highlight some great spots in the area. Hope you enjoy!
Mayfield Bakery and Cafe
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Mayfield is situated in the heart of the Town and Country shopping center. The cuisine is California fresh and focuses on local produce. Especially tasty for breakfast and lunch, on weekdays it’s quite a scene for people watching as it’s popular with the business crowd and ladies who lunch alike.
While you are in Town and Country…swing by Tout Sweet for beautiful macarons and other confections, get a fantastic blowout at Halo and pick up a snack for later at Calafia – founded by ex-Google chefs!
Leaf and Petal
This boutique has a beautifully curated selection of all apparel my favorite brands – often they are items that aren’t easily found in the big department stores. Head into the store in the next four weeks and mention seeing the post and receive 20% off of one item!
The “dish” is one of the most popular spots for walking and running in the area. And you can see why – it has views of the rolling hills and is a perfectly challenging 3.5 mile loop. It’s the perfect way to enjoy California’s sunshine. It’s easy to find – just go to the intersection of Stanford Ave and Junipero Serra Blvd. in Palo Alto. Or simply Google “the dish, Palo Alto.”
There are plenty of other places around Palo Alto, including downtown along University Avenue, but these are my favorites for a quick stopover.
Thank you to Ally’s mother in law, Mary Ann, for these photos!
